‘Twas a beautiful day for a hike. Along the way, Prince Phillip had a valiant sword fight with a tree in Palmer Park. He did not prevail, although he was not himself seriously wounded.
Had the occasion a coupe of weeks ago to take a quick drive (2.5 hours with occasional stops) through Joshua Tree National Park in California. It is a rugged place, and features two kinds of desert, Colorado and Mojave. One rather fascinating plant specimen is the cholla cactus.
