Big Day For Two
Today’s a big day for Dakta, who leaves Hillsdale for the Summer break. Here’s a note he sent some family members:
The time has come for my departure from Hillsdale, and since I woke up an hour early I thought I’d write like I originally intended to. I look  my last final yesterday, I feel good about all of them generally but that probably doesn’t mean anything. I was doing well unto about a month ago for the most part, so hopefully things will be okay.
It’s sad to go. People have been leaving since yesterday, and the majority are leaving today. I leave before most of them at 8:45 AM on the shuttle to Detroit, but it is hard to say goodbye to so many people when they leave so suddenly. As it is, I’ve focused on seniors. We keep telling ourselves that we will be back, but they won’t, so it is goodbye for good.
But it is good to return home, to be with the family I love, and to live some semblance of a normal life (I think I understand collegiate behavior much better now. I always knew something was wrong with college students in Middle School). School is good, but only for the sake of something better and higher.
I like his thoughtfulness – although it is likely related to his exhaustion from finals! Congratulations to him for a good freshman year.
Also – tah-dah! – Allie’s birthday today. Being a creative type she’ll celebrate in style, no doubt!
